What started with one rescue has grown into a movement. This is the story of Awaaz.
At the age of 18, Amit Pathak encountered a situation that would define his life's purpose. He rescued a small, injured puppy, but despite his best efforts to foster it, the lack of immediate, professional medical aid led to the puppy succumbing to its injuries.
That heartbreak ignited a realization: Mumbai didn't just need animal lovers; it needed an institution dedicated to emergency response. Driven by this, Amit began rescuing animals with the help of local NGOs, police, and the fire brigade, eventually founding Awaaz.
"Welfare cannot be achieved by false promises. It is a work of commitment & dedication."
— Amit Pathak, Founder
Our growth through the years
After registration and research in 2016, Awaaz officially launched its services. Our primary goal was to provide immediate first aid to the voiceless in the Vile Parle to Goregaon belt.
Awaaz expanded beyond city limits, participating in flood relief operations in Mahad and Raigad. Our team traveled 600km to treat stranded livestock and pets.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, we refused to let the strays starve. We split into teams and served over 28,000 meals to animals across empty city streets.
Today, we operate a Rehab Facility in Malad led by Alisha Das, run 3 ambulances, and have a core team of 21 members. We have touched the lives of over 15,000 animals.
Providing immediate medical aid to accident victims, wounded, and severely ill animals.
Spreading awareness in schools and societies to foster empathy and coexistence.
A proactive fight against Distemper, Parvo, and Rabies through regular drives.
We are a non-profit driven by passion, but powered by your support. Help us keep the ambulances running and the bowls full.
